Berkshire County Boards of Health Association (BCBOHA) is an educational organization supporting the 32 local boards of health (BOH) in Berkshire County, MA for more than 80 years. All Berkshire BOH members and staff are voting members who annually elect a seven-member Executive Committee that serves as the BCBOHA Executive Committee as well as the Executive Board for the Berkshire Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coalition. Both groups meet on the first Tuesday of each month with the Coalition meeting at 12:45 PM followed by the BCBOHA meeting at 1:30 PM. Meeting notices, cancellations and the agenda are posted here at least 48 workday hours in advance.

Public Health Inspector

The Public Health Program seeks a detail-oriented and community-minded Inspector to help ensure safe food, water, housing, and recreational environments. Whether you are an experienced inspector or bring transferable skills and the ability to obtain required certifications, we encourage you to apply. The Public Health Inspector will support municipal boards of health by conducting inspections, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing technical assistance across Berkshire County. This role combines fieldwork, administrative duties, and public engagement to protect and promote community health. This is a full-time, off-site, flexible schedule position. Core work hours (10 am to 4 pm) must be covered every workday unless otherwise agreed. Full-time staff must work a minimum of 35 hours per week, with occasional weekends and night meetings as required. This position reports to the Public Health Assistant Program Manager & Public Health Program Manager.

Public Health Trainer

The Public Health Program seeks an experienced and engaging trainer to coordinate and deliver direct public health training, mentor local staff, and support regional workforce development initiatives. This high-impact, community-facing role offers the opportunity to directly strengthen local public health capacity in Western Massachusetts while collaborating with an experienced team and enjoying flexibility and autonomy.

The Public Health Trainer will lead workforce development efforts for local public health staff in Berkshire and Hampden Counties by coordinating and delivering direct training, providing mentorship, and supporting regional capacity-building initiatives. This role focuses on strengthening inspectional and administrative skills across municipalities to meet state and local standards. This is a full-time, off-site, flexible schedule position.
